Tsunami is a Japanese word meaning “harbor wave”. It is unlike a tidal wave, in that it can start after an earthquake, building momentum under the water as it moved inland, so that a boat out on the water may continue on without occupants realizing the force moving under it towards the shore. I wasn’t in Australia these past few days and don’t know what messages were sent out to people in order for them to evacuate. There are no words to describe the horror. I cannot comment on what kept people from getting out before the fires took them in their homes and vehicles. Read more »
